The analysts concluded that this would be down to declining prices of EV raw materials, such as lithium, nickel, and cobalt. This would mean a battery would cost $99 per kilowatt hour, drastically reducing an electric car battery replacement cost.
Therefore for a midsized car with ~100 mile range, a typical battery system might cost around $22,000 (weight ~300 kg, 30 kWh, 80 percent usable energy). Cell materials (electrodes, separator and electrolyte) account for around 30 percent of the overall pack price, with the electrodes being the most expensive components.
Fortunately, electric car batteries are built to last. Most new cars come with an 8-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty for your peace of mind. This means that the manufacturer will cover the replacement cost if there is a mechanical fault within this timeframe.
The price of these batteries is an entirely different story. A typical 100kWh pack will set the purchaser back somewhere around $25k - 32k. End consumers pay prices, the OEM pays costs, and costs beyond just major raw materials. Should have explained the pros and cons of each battery type.
